Presentation preparations

This week there is no reading as we prepare for our group presentations. The information on how to write a persuasive argument is now on the class website.
Today's blog question: Have you done group work in other courses at SFU? In high school or another school? What makes for successful group work?

I have no experience of group presentation in the high school or SFU. It was all individual presentation.Hoever, I think that what most important thing in group work is co-operation.Take their each part and research it widly. It's more easiler and faster.

I have done many group presentations in high school, also we acted some dramas as well. The most important things in group projects are team work and responsibility, because if anyone does not finish his piece of work, the whole project will be ruined.

I have done group presentations in class (last semester in BUS 237). I have found that with group presentations that if you have one person in the group who works to hard or works to little it makes the project harder to do. It takes a good mixture of people who will do the right amount of work to get the job done.

I have not done any group work at SFU yet but I have done lots of group work through out high school. I have found that to be successful you have to be open minded and aware of others views and feelings. You also have to trust in your group members if you don't trust them than you will get stressed out and end up putting more pressure on yourself than need be.

Question.
Have you done in other courses at SFU? In high school or another school? What makes for successful group work?

Answer.
In SFU I did two formal group projects - last semester at Business-272 “Organizational Behavior” and this semester in Business-343 “Marketing”. I also always tried to organize informal study groups in other courses I have taken. The most important factor I found so far is communication. Level of knowledge was not so important. Even if a team member is a beginner in the subject, he or she still can contribute to successful team work in many ways. Good communication includes one’s willingness to regularly meet, ability to hold a dialog, sensitivity to other group members. There is a general aptitude of a person to communicate, but there are also specific compatibility issues. If a group naturally accepts a leader and other roles people want to take on, this is promising success too. Undue competition for leadership can distract the group from the actual production function. It is hard when a person withdraws from the group, does not attend meetings or does not respond to emails. But it is still harder when one opposes, disrupts hinders contribution of others. I rarely enjoyed ideal team, especially when it was composed of new people with inability to change the crew. So for a leader and other members it is also a challenge and an art to work with existing people whoever they are. I am trying to learn this art and to be flexible enough to survive in any team.

I have done a lot of presentation in high school. These experience taught me that working together as a group is important. Every member should participate in discussing and bringing good ideas to make the presentation perfect.

I have done some group works before in College, and I'm currently taking a team project course (CMPT275) in SFU. For me, group work requires a lot of skills in order to reach a good result. Some of them are teamwork, responsibility, compatibility, and contribution. In addition, members in group should respect each other even someone have better skills than others. Because group work means we work together, and that's the only way to make the project done perfectly.

I have done several group projects and presentations when I was in high school and BCIT. From my own experience, a successful group work is usually based on cooperation. Everyone in the team should try his best to accomplish his task and to help the others when anyone else has any problem. Thus, the team should be able to successfully finish its job.

I have no experience of group work in other courses at SFU. However during high school I did many group work presentations. I believed in order for a group work to be successful, responsibility is very important. Each member must complete their own part to avoid any left outs.

I have no experience of group presentation in the SFU. However, I do have lot of experience in high school. I think what makes for successful group work is we got to work as a group. When we able to work as a group, I think there is no difficulty for any kind of project.

I have done many group presentations or works in my high school but not yet in SFU. The most important thing is communication and repecting group members. When the group has a good atmosphere, working will be alot easier.

There is a presentation in my Psychology course as well. This is a fifteen minutes project about the sex roles of human in different centuries. The presentation supposed to be a group work. Unfortunately, since my class has not many people, I have to do it myself. I think successful group work require more trainings and works. As well, communications between the group members are essential in doing presentations. Since it is not an individual work, teamwork is the most important factor in making a entertaining presentation.
