Outlines for Group Presentations

From what I heard today, there should be some very interesting presentations next Wednesday. Please remember to e-mail me your outlines by Monday at the latest.
Here's our blog question for today: You have received feedback on a couple of pieces of writing now. Do you notice the peer reviewers make similar comments? If so, what will you need to work on in future writing and why?

Normally, I don't know what mistakes I've made on the paper until pros or other peers comment on it even I've checked it after finished. However, I usually make similar mistakes over and over again. Those are usually about grammar and spelling mistakes. I'm also lack of vocabulary, so I couldn't express my opinions clearly and effectively.

To improve my writing in future, I need to write down what kind of grammar mistakes I often make and study about them. I also study more new words everyday to improve the quality of my writing.

From the peer reviews I had recieved, I noticed that my main problem was repetiton. Even though my description and sentences followed a logic, sometimes I may use the same word or same phrase throughout my writing again and again. To avoid this kind of problem, I probably should get a thesaurus when I write next time.

Ya they are almost the same which I definitely have to work more on expanding the sentence and working on word usage. I will try to eliminate these errors by scanning over and over my essay several times.

I did not notice much of commonalities in people’s comments. 2 peers and instructor gave me quite diverse critiques:
1. Syntax, punctuation, word usage.
2. Too pretentious and complex lexicon and style
3. Unmotivated time changes in narrative
4. Content sometimes crosses the line of acceptance
5. Structure sometimes grows uncontrollably and loses required form
6. Oral narrative has unstable speed
7. Some phrases are straight calc from Russian
8. Uneven paragraph sizes
I also have my own view of my problems:
1. Slow reading
2. Lack of attention
3. Being late immigrant, have low fluency
4. Difficulty to transferring ideas into required lingual form
5. Impatience and stubbornness in accepting somebody else’s points.
To fight those faults I am planning to
1. Read the theory
2. Practice academically
3. Practice casually, apply class knowledge in everyday life
4. Ask for feedback, discuss
Sincerely,

Every time I receive a paper back, I know I need to work on my grammer and vocabulary. Sometimes the same mistakes would happen again and again, and I think it is because I get used to write it in the same way everytime, which is wrong. So I need to spend sometime on correcting those errors.

Yes I have been receiving the same comments from most people. The things that I need to improve on are to cut down on run on sentences. Create a better introduction to my papers and to cut down on the use of semi-colons.

yes. the peer reviewers sometimes give me similar comment about repetation of words. So, I realize vocab is the main problem. In the future, I will try to learn more vocab to make my writing more interesting

Thanks to the feedbacks from the peer reviewers, I realized tense is my major problem. I tend to switch my tense a lot and I usually make mistakes. In the future i should stay consistent to avoid any tense errors.

I have noticed that i need to work on my punctuation. I find that i have lots of run on sentences. I also have a problem with spelling and i need to double check my spelling and read my work out loud quitly so that what i can catch my mistakes.

Yes, I know the peer reviewers have always make the similar commets. They are always said about my grammar and my punctation. I think from now on I should be more aware about those problems and make changes. If I am able be more aware when I write , my eassy should be a lot better.

From all the comments i received, the similar error is grammer and spell errors. I think these are the my biggest problems so far. I should check my work after i finished.
